Bel and the Dragon re-opened on June 9 2011, after a major refurbishment. Formerly a Victorian pumping station, the Bel and The Dragon sits on the waterfront of the Kennet and Avon Canal, just a stones throw from the centre of the town. This unique building oozes character and the refurbishment, costing over £500,000, has restored the Bel and The Dragon’s atmospheric restaurant and bar.

The building boasts a vaulted ceiling with oak beams, original brick walls and a wealth of features dating back to its original use as a biscuit factory  that add to its unique character. There is extensive seating outside on the boardwalk or authentic barge which takes full advantage of the canal side setting for alfresco dining.

Features include a brand new kitchen, which includes a Josper Grill and Rotisserie. The bar area has been re-vamped to feature a long bar serving an exciting cocktail list and wide selection of wine and beer. Two private dining areas can cater for parties of 10 or 28 in the raised gallery.  These are ideal for private celebrations and business meetings. The stunning interior design has been created by Nicola Harding.

The new menus have been devised by Ronnie Kimbugwe who has joined  from Gordon Ramsay at Claridge’s and Steve Rooney who has led the Bel and The Dragon group for more than ten years.

They  have devised a completely new menu with the emphasis on the freshest, seasonal and most sustainable local ingredients, served with the finest wines. Wine lovers will be warmly welcomed to enjoy one of the best cellars in Berkshire, stocked with a wide range of vintage wines which are competitively priced. The bar stocks a great selection of beers whether draught or bottled.
